Recently, the members of the Jacksonville LO were treated with tears & hugs of
appreciation instead of tears of frustration and disillusion. Wanda Vernon found
a customer crying in the claims area. She didn�t have any food and the utility
company had just informed her they were cutting off her power. Wanda tried to get
her some assistance with no immediate success. Over lunch the staff contributed
enough funds to pay her utility bill and buy some food for her and her son. Later
that day, she walked the couple of miles back to the office to personally thank the
staff. "Beats a training video on customer service any day!" Three of our
staff members attended the IAPES Institute, October 1st through 3rd in Greenville.
They enjoyed the Institute and brought back very positive comments from the training
sessions. Also, on Oct. 10, 1997, this office kicked off the 97-98. IAPES
membership drive by watching the video "Catch the Vision", and enjoyed Danishes and
juice courtesy of NCIAPES.
